Curious who’s leading your group on tour? A passionate, well-travelled advocate who’s there 24/7 to help you solve any issues you come across. Meet your Group Guru!
No Approach adventure is complete without a Group Guru by your side. They’re experienced travellers from all across Canada, entirely dedicated to you and your group from the moment you meet them at the airport. Available 24/7 on your tour, these leaders handle the unexpected, bring the group together, and make sure you have the best possible experience!
Whether you’re a seasoned globetrotter or just getting started as a traveller, having someone in your corner makes all the difference. Here’s a look at how they delight our travellers no matter where they are in the world!
Our itineraries take the tour planning off your plate, but it’s only natural to have questions when you’re out exploring somewhere new. Got a question or a concern? Want to know what exciting excursion is coming up next?
#1. Your Group Guru is there around the clock for hotel hiccups, questions about your next meal, or anything else that comes your way. No detail is too small.
One of our Group Gurus, Kamille from Ontario, tailors her daily routine to make travellers feel even more supported.
“At every hotel, I wait in the lobby after we check in,” Kamille said. “Even as they’re going up, I say, ‘Don’t forget everybody! If you’ve got any issues, you can either message me or come down to ask, no problem.’”
While she sits in the lobby, Kamille thinks of questions travellers might have and writes up a mini Q&A so that everybody is in the loop. It’s her way of making sure everyone is as informed as possible!
#2. When you travel with a Group Guru, someone’s always thinking ahead so you don’t have to.
Leave the details to someone else! Your Group Guru makes sure that you’re on time, that breaks are scheduled, and that your dietary restrictions are addressed when they need to be.
This attentiveness is also a huge relief for first-time solo travellers. If you’re feeling nervous about travelling solo, rest assured that your Group Guru will make sure you’re always included and kept up to speed. Here’s what a solo traveller had to say about her experience:
“I just returned from a 20-day tour to Vietnam and Cambodia in February 2026, with Approach Tours and their impressive [Group] Guru — Kamille. From our pre-tour telephone chats, to meeting her at the airport, she was so personable, knowledgeable and put me at ease immediately — as I was travelling solo. She was attentive, intuitive, fun-loving, warm, calm and so helpful to myself and fellow travellers. Kamille made an exciting adventure even more memorable by her smile and delightful sense of humour. I felt so comfortable and well looked after, that I have booked another tour (of course with Kamille as my [Group] Guru) for May 2026!”
– Rita after her experience in Vietnam & Angkor Wat
That’s the Group Guru difference. Once you’ve experienced it, you’ll understand why so many travellers keep coming back for more!
A great group dynamic doesn’t happen by accident. These tour leaders have a knack for bringing people together, no matter what corner of Canada they come from!
#1. By sparking conversations on every coach ride and making sure everyone feels included, our Group Gurus turn a group of strangers into a tight-knit family by the time you share your first meal together.
Travelling to a new country means coming face-to-face with monuments you’ve spent months learning about, fascinating stories from history, and endless unforgettable experiences. With so much to take in, a group of strangers may stay in their own heads, unsure what part to talk about first. But a Group Guru always has a way of breaking the ice and making sure everyone’s voice is heard.
It starts small: you start to open up about what brought you to your destination — maybe a lifelong fascination of wildlife or a desire for adventure. Next, you’re learning about your bus neighbour’s past travels and swapping your favourite travel tips. All because someone was there to bring it all together!
#2. They keep the energy alive, even if there’s an unexpected bump in the road
No one likes coming face-to-face with a travel mishap, but they’re easier to get through with a Group Guru’s positivity by your side. A forgotten wallet or a confusing eSIM setup can easily throw off the mood of a travel day. But when your Group Guru meets those moments calmly and offers a next step, it uplifts your group instead of stressing you out.
Over time, that energy ripples out. Travellers get closer to each other, checking in on each other and eventually forming a bond.
As Kamille put it:
“It takes on a life of its own, group travel. The group looks out for each other, they care for one another, and they find out what interests each other. They start doing these random acts of kindness because they want everyone to come away with a great experience,” she remarked.
When you join a group of Canadians who are all passionate about exploring the world, friendships form fast! You might even meet the people you’ll travel with in the future.
And it all starts with one person. Your Group Guru leads with warmth, curiosity, and genuine care for every traveller in the group, so it’s only natural that the people around them follow suit! That’s when the real magic of group travel happens.
A Group Guru doesn’t just lead a tour. They make sure it’s one worth remembering! After getting to know each traveller, they do their best to make an already stellar itinerary feel personal.
#1. Celebrating special occasions
Travelling to celebrate a retirement, milestone birthday, or anniversary? Your Group Guru makes sure your big day doesn’t go unnoticed! They might have a small surprise up their sleeve, turning a special trip into something even more meaningful. Hear it from a past traveller:
Some of the most memorable moments happen not because of where you are, but because of the people you’re with!
#2. Making the ordinary extraordinary
It’s not just the milestones that get the Group Guru treatment. It’s the little things that make all the difference.
As well-travelled people, they know what details add a cherry on top of an already great travel day. Whether it’s a spontaneous gelato stop or the music they play on the coach as you roll into a new city, your Guru has an eye for the details that transform a good trip into a great one.
From the moment your trip begins, your Group Guru is the thread that ties every great experience together. With their guidance, logistics feel effortless, strangers turn into friends, and the unexpected becomes part of the adventure. Their positive energy is the finishing touch that makes every trip that much better. Without them, it simply wouldn’t be an Approach tour!
Don’t just take our word for it.
