Enchanting Portugal

Scroll

Flanked by Spain and the Atlantic Ocean, Portugal seems to enchant anyone who has made a trip along its 1,800 km of pristine coastline. With picturesque vineyards, jagged cliffs and hilly cities, history can be found on every cobblestoned street, and the Portugal experience is different for each traveller. Warm people and delicious food are central to every visit. If salted cod and fresh sardines are everyday staples, the Pastéis de Belém pastry is now an institution in its own right.

My recent trip to Portugal with Approach Tours was more than I could have hoped for. Our local guide, Matthew, was amazing; informative, funny, caring and super knowledgeable. Our Guru, John, was excellent as well making sure we were all looked after. Such a fantastic trip through a beautiful country with great people.

Everything was top notch. I especially appreciated the extra things that were thrown in such as complimentary wine with lunch, surprise boat tickets in Aveiro, and other little gestures. It seemed like there was almost a new surprise every day.

Laurie was awesome. She did it all whether it was making sure we were all accounted for, looking after our luggage, handling out water, or taking pictures for us. Then there was her problem solving abilities. She answered all questions we had and even when we had air conditioning problems on our bus, the issue was resolved as soon as humanly possib…

Our guide Jose and guru Laurie were fabulous. Any issue was dealt with by them. I loved the fact that everything we did, all the meals, and any extras including pick up at home and drop off were completely covered. The tour was a good pace, and we were encouraged before the trip to be walking. That tip paid off, lots of walking tours, but lots of b…

Our wish was their command.. you couldn’t ask for better service if you needed anything they made sure you got it and as I said in my opening statements, there was always plenty of water on the bus. It was extremely hot the entire time we were there, so the water was easily obtained. Free time was fabu…
