Ethereal Iceland

Scroll

Few places on earth immerse you in the magic of nature like Iceland. Feel your eyes widen in awe as you see Strokkur shoot a column of boiling water into the arctic sky. Stand above the seam of two continents in a vast rift valley at Thingvellir. Watch as the Golden Waterfall plunges into two-tiered depths, the thunder so powerful you feel the vibration deep in your chest. Inhale the crisp air above Vatnajökull Glacier, refreshing and invigorating with each breath. Sink into the warmth of the Blue Lagoon and feel its geothermal power coursing through you. Iceland offers an experience unlike any other — mystic, elemental, and impossible to forget.

DAY 5 RUSHING WATERFALLS & HOT SPRINGS

Make your way towards Reykholt, stopping to marvel at not one but two spectacular waterfalls: the rushing Barnafoss and the sprawling Hraunfossar, where crystal-clear water seeps through ancient lava fields straight into the river below. Try to spot one of Hraunfossar’s many hidden caves formed by millennia of eruptions! From there, feel the raw heat of Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe, as it bubbles and steams. Afterwards, walk along the picturesque scenery of the Borganes shore, or birdwatch as local wildlife soars overhead — the afternoon is yours. Overnight in Borganes. (B,L,D) View image gallery

DAY 6 ANCIENT VIKINGS & ICONIC HORSES

Travel back in time at the Eiríksstaðir Living History Museum, where the sights, sounds, and crafts of the Viking Era come to life. After lunch, head to the charming Icelandic Horse Farmstead at Lýtingsstadir, where you’ll learn about the impact of horses in Icelandic myths, legends, and history. DAY 7 WHALE WATCHING IN AKUREYRI

Savor the fish that took Iceland from poverty to prosperity at the Herring Era Museum, where you’ll have a herring tasting. DAY 8 GODAFOSS, MÝVATN & A GEOTHERMAL SOAK

The day opens at Godafoss, the Waterfall of the Gods, where this thundering cascade lives up to every bit of its name. Lake Mývatn follows, a geological wonderland with steam explosions where lava meets water. Wander among mysterious pseudo craters, wind through the twisted lava labyrinth of Dimmuborgir, and hold your breath at Námaskard. Here, bubbling mud pools and steaming solfataras put on a show. Last but not least is the day’s crowning glory, a blissful soak in the geothermal nature baths. We round off the day in the charming east coast town of Egilsstadir, home to legendary monster Lagarfljót. Overnight in Egilsstadir. (B,L,D) View image gallery

DAY 9 HNAPPAVELLIR & TURF CHURCH

DAY 12 WALK ALONG A LAVA TUNNEL

Let out your inner explorer and put on your headhat to explore Raufarhólshellir, the expansive lava tunnel that stretches to 1,360 meters. Marvel the lava stalacities left by centuries of volcanic eruptions and watch the way it catches the light, reflecting a myriad of colours. End the evening with a farewell dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Reykjavik. (B,L,D) View image gallery
